　　一天，镇上来了一位神父（盖·皮尔斯 Guy Pearce 饰），在见到神父第一面时，丽姿就知道，她的幸福生活将一去不复返，神父和丽姿到底有着怎样的过节以至于他要如此无情的迫害她和她的家人呢？丽姿是一名助产士，在一次手术中，孕妇出现了生命危险，在母亲和孩子只能保一个的情况下，丽姿选择了保护母亲，殊不知，这选择亦将她推向了万劫不复的深渊。
