　　该片将由传奇电影人沃尔特·希尔(《十字街头》、《战士帮》《四十八小时》导演&多部《异形》编剧)执导、编剧，设定在1897年的美国新墨西哥州和墨西哥奇瓦瓦一带，讲述著名的赏金猎人Max Borlund被雇佣去寻找并带回圣达菲商人Nathan Price那政治态度激进的妻子Rachel Price。Max被告知：Rachel被一个名叫Elijah Jones的黑人逃兵绑架，在墨西哥押为了人质。当Max南下穿过美墨边境，他遇上了死对头——美国在外侨民、职业赌徒、不法分子Joe Cribbens(达福饰演)，数年前正是Max将Joe捉住并送进了监狱。而此后，Max深入墨西哥荒漠寻找Rachel和Elijah，却发现前者是自愿逃离她虐待成性的丈夫，而后者跟她相爱。这下Max进退两难：是把Rachel按照契约抓回美国，送回雇主身边，还是帮助Rachel获得自由，并且要对付追杀而来的雇佣bing和自己的长期敌人？
